Hi, saw the name Vaijland and thought I would comment.
I have been researching Weigand from the Donauschwaben for some time and I can see that the names are related.
Depending on where you got the name from there could be various changes made. From German to Dialect, German to English, misspellings and phonetic spelling that would change the name.
Some things to note:
German W is pronounced English V.
German D at the end of the name is pronounced DT.
German E is similar to English A.
German J is pronounced like English Y or I.
Due to various dialects the g in Weigand could have become almost silent. Similar to a German J or Y. Also the L could have become silent.
There are some sites on the internet about these names. So in my opinion all the following are related (also some searching on the internet can help) Starting with my Mothers Maiden Name Englicised to Weigandt, Weigand, Weiand, Weyant, Weiland, Wayant, Veiand, Veiant, etc.etc. and possibly even into Weinland.
Of course no language is stagnant and the rules are always changing.
Good Luck,
