YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – A funeral service celebrating the life of Mrs. Carole Marlene Sanders, 72, will be held Tuesday at noon at the Greater Friendship Bpt. Church.
Mrs. Sanders passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center.
Mrs. Sanders was born Dec. 1, 1939, in Plant City, Florida, (Hillsborough County) a daughter of John D. Barrow and Dulcinea Washington Barrow, coming to the Mahoning Valley many years ago.
She was formerly employed with Warren General Hospital, Warren, Ohio retiring after 25 years of loyal service.
She was a faithful member of the church, where she served on the Mother’s Board, Woman of Worship committee and as former church trustee.
She was the former secretary for the pastor’s aide and Mother’s Guild. She also served as the assistant Sunday school teacher for the New Vision class and was the former president of the We Care ministry.
On Jan. 28, 1956, she married Theotis Sanders, who died on Dec. 11, 2005.
She was a dedicated mother, sister and friend who will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving children, Denise Sanders and Nikki M. Sanders, both of Youngstown, Theotis M. Sanders of Nashville, Tenn., William R. Sanders of Youngstown, Kim A. Sanders of Nashville and Rodney D. Sanders of Youngstown; her sisters, Vera Mallory and Shelia Drummond both of Warren, Ohio and Jeannette Shephard of Suffolk, Va.; her brothers, James and his wife, Portia Shephard of Hermitage, Pa., Glen Barrow of Farrell, Pa. and Clifford D. and his wife, Dahlia Barrow of Brookfield, Ohio; 17 grandchildren, including Uriah “Poonch” Sanders and Ruzja M.B. Streeter, both of Youngstown, Tasha Sanders of Columbus and Dulcinea Prudue of Pittsburgh, Pa; 20 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and dear friends.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and a son, Timothy Sanders.
Friends may call on Monday from 3 to 5 p.m. at Washington Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, one hour prior to services at the church.
