I am researching an early African American family by the surname of Chambers who settled in Los Angeles in about 1914 or 1915. The head of the family was a man named Pierce C. Chambers. His wife was Maggie Chambers, but I believe she died in Oklahoma before the rest of the family went to California. Pierce and Maggie had at least three daughters who came to California with him: Azellee Chambers, Inola Chambers, Rosa Chambers, and at least one son named McKinley Chambers. Another daughter, Mary Chambers(married name Lewis)died in 1943 in Oklahoma. The Chambers were originally from Oklahoma, specifically in the towns of Beggs and Muskogee in Okmulgee, County. Pierce C. Chambers worked for the city of Los Angeles in the late teens and 1920s as a laborer for several years. If you have any information, pictures, etc., I would greatly appreciate it if you would share it with me. Thanks everyone!
