Thanks Jim. The mid and up-state Malones are another set from my Mobile ones. When I was a langshoreman, port of Morehead City, N.C., a bright (no College), charming, short, black fellow lomgshoreman was "Henry" (like I'm "Miller", his last name), Henry was an old black, respected name in the Beaufort, N.C., area. I speculated they desc from slavesw of North Carolina's first Jewish legislator, circa 1830s, from Beaufort area, Mr. Henry. Old white Mr. Drummond of Civilo War era Norfolk, Va., area, merchant, had certain more trusted slaves for going on merchantile trips for in row boats, etc. Several slaves served in engine room of the CSS Virginia, possibly some were Drummonds.
