I love the socks analogy. That makes a lot of sense!

I have a conundrum though. My genealogy is primarily English with some French and a tiny bit German. I've traced most lines waaaay back.

My husband's genealogy is German and Puerto Rican.

My daughter did the AncestryDNA test and her results were 65% English and 30% SCANDINAVIAN and 7% unknown.

I can understand the 65% English, maybe, but only if my daughter inherited every single sock from me from England. But the SCANDINAVIAN makes no sense at all! It seems more likely it could be European. The 7% makes sense (maybe she got some native indigenous sock from Puerto Rico from her dad?).

I am doing the Ancestry DNA test now as well as daughter's dad. :) Maybe that will reveal something else.

I think the SCANDINAVIAN markers are really skewed.

BTW, sometimes it seems my daughter only inherited socks from me, because those are the only matches were are making. I've found three direct links so far, and they're all third cousins or less. But those links are all from my dad's line! Curious it is!
