The haplogroup is helpful as it lets us determine which ancestors to eliminate. This eliminated the one, I and other "cousin's" had researched for so many years. Then matching the markers with the others in the Surname Project there is only a 32/33 match which may be great but still we are unable to match our ancestor with known ancestors of this person's tree. There was also a 32/33 match with another surname so this one might be a NPE. On both the markers all match except one.

So from what I have read, if a grandfather took the test there might be a better chance of matching to an earlier generation. No grandfathers or fathers that I know of.
