Looking for someone who might be able to determine if there is a headstone (per his military burial records) of a John Root (1829-1897). Records indicate he was buried at the BANTA CEMETERY, Wayne County, Iowa, Civil War Burials: Howard Township, Sec. 7-67-21. The cemetery appears to be on Cedar, near County Road S34, just north of the Missouri border, not far from his former homes in Clio, Iowa, and Cleopatra, Missouri.

if you live near there and would be willing to photograph the headstone. Also, I would be curious if his wife, Mary Root, is also buried there. She was born in 1841. They were my great grandparents. --Ron Root
