My ha'-penny on the Logo vs. Home links: for years FamilySearch.org refused to disclose to site users that its upper-left logo was (usually) a link to the main search page. This was a frustration and deterrent for site users, particularly because they also declined to install a sensible site-map.

While engineers/architects may all think of this as a common protocol, hundreds of millions of non-techs do not think any such thing. A temporary explanatory thingie will not be a long-term solution.

I'd also suggest retaining more of a navigation-bar look to the, er, navigation bar. Specifically suggest putting back the segments and specifically "Learning Center." There is really a trifle too much tendency to hide stuff behind links to "more" or whatever, and the LC really could be one of the first places a new user would go.
