Andy, we completely rebuilt the media page with the goal to make it better performing and more scalable. The features and visual changes had to be built from scratch on a new platform. For our initial launch, we nearly achieved complete feature parity. The exceptions are: 1) person tagging; 2) date of original contribution; 3) link to original contributor's tree.
#2 and #3 will be returned tomorrow evening. #1 will take a few weeks longer but is already in development (all the existing tags tags are preserved in our database and will resurface as soon as we bring the tagging tool back).
We chose to release the new page in an incomplete state because it performs and looks better than the old page and we didn't want to delay getting this into the hands of customers for the sake for a couple missing pieces that we planned to immediately layer back in. Additionally, we plan to react to feedback from users about global comments, and any other changes to the media page experience. This is why I'm so interested in hearing what you like and dislike, and ideas on we could make it better. Why you see today will evolve based on user input and suggestion.
BurgessDonnelly, the display of comments from the tree setting page will be re-instatated in the future. In the meantime, we email you real-time when a new comment from other users is made. Make sure you have comment notifications set to "on" in "My Alerts" area.
