Norma J. Coletta, age 90, of Mentor, Ohio formerly of Cleveland, Ohio died Sept. 6, 2012, at her residence.
She was born Oct. 18, 1921, in Cleveland, Ohio.
Ms. Coletta had retired from the U.S. Army after 21 years as a 1st Sergeant, as a general manager from Denny's after 17 years, and most recently from Lakeland Community College after 11 years.
Norma attended Ohio State University before leaving to join the Women's Army Corps. She was in the first contingent of WACs to land on Omaha Beach 30 days after D-Day, received the Battle Star for Semi-Combat and was the first enlisted woman to receive the Meritorious Medal.
Norma was a public information officer and reporter, writing for ""The Turret"" and ""The Traveler"".
She was a member of a local V.F.W. Post and was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 214 in Willoughby, Ohio.
Survivors include her nephew, Michael (Diane) Mele; great-nephew, Christopher Mele; dear friend, Nancy Joyner; and many cousins and other loving family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Concetta "Tessie" Coletto; sister, Helen M. Mele; and nephew, Peter R. Mele.
Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Rosary Church, 12021 Mayfield Road, Cleveland, OH 44106. (Please meet at the church.)
Family will receive friends 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060.
Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Cleveland, Ohio.
