It would be the state he was buried in. If he were buried in a state and any kind of expenses were paid by the State. They would have to file a form to be reimbursed. It is the same when an "Application For Burial Benifits by the Funeral Director for services rendered (VA Form 21-530). It has to have a certified portion of his Service Record (DD-214) and the information would be listed on the VA Form 21-530.

It would include I. (1.) SSN (2.)VA file No. . (3.) DOB (4.) Place of Birth (5.)Date of Death (6.) Place of Death (7.) Date of Burial (8.) Where Did the Veterans death occur.

II. service Information: (A.) Date entered Service (B.) Service Number (C.) Seperated From Service (D.) Grade, Rankor rating. Organization and Branch of Service. (E.) If veteran served under name other than that shown on form, Give full name and service rendered under the name.

III. (A.) Place of Burial or location of Cremains. (B.) Was the burial (without charge for plot or interment) In a state owned cemetary, or section thereof, used solely for persons eligible for burial in a National Cemetary? -----Yes _____NO. (C.) Was burial in a NationalCemetary or cemetary owned by the Federal Govt.

A list of different expenses. I would imagine this information is not privy to the general public or anyone; because it contains military info. and definately involves the Veterans Adminastration; but I am sure after a number of years or unless the family didn't want to release it. it can't be released to anyone.
