For reasons already stated by others, I’m 100% certain the photograph is post WWI at least 1920’s, it certainly isn’t a 1909 photograph.
From the catalogued descriptions of the WWI Medal Index Cards at the National Archives, Kew, he has a MIC (high quality colour scans of original cards on Ancestry).
Corps: Labour Corps Royal Engineers, Indian Army, Indian Army Reserve of Officers, Rank Lieutenant.
Always difficult to identify medals from b&w images, but I’ll stick my neck out.
I suspect his 4 medals are (left to right): British War Medal (WWI); Victory Medal (WWI); either the India General Service Medal 1908-1935 or the General Service Medal 1918-1962; last unknown.
After checking the Medal Index Card to confirm his WWI Medal awards, I suggest a search of the UK, Military Campaign Medal and Award Rolls, 1793-1949 database on Ancestry to confirm the none WWI awards; be aware it may only identify clasps for the IGSM or GSM medals.
Do you know much about him?
