Indeed. The list of EK recipients was published in 1877 and "only" had the names of living recipients. Theoretically, he could have been awarded the EKI and the was gone- in this case emigrated. Any idea when he left for the US?

There were two Landwehr 1st Lts. named Kiehn who received the EK2- they were Karl Heinrich Friedrich Kiehn and Alexander Kiehn. I assume they were brothers. They were both serving in a support role- Karl Heinrich was the commander of the 2nd infantry munition column of field artillery regiment 10 and Alexander was commander of the Provision column of the 10th army corps.

In 1871 they were both assigned to the Landwehr cavalry of Landwehr Regt. 54 in Inowrazlaw. Neither one appears in the 1872 army List (Rangliste).
