On the DNA site it said that merchant boats of old traveled from the east to the west and, for whatever reasons, some of the people ended up staying in the places they traveled to. Logical!!

Obviously, your Smith and my Scott men didn't start out with those surnames. Not likely we'll ever know the original names for those two lines. They apparently got their start in the same part of the world....the fertile crescent....Euphrates and Tigris River area. I can recall two other people who originated from there!

I also have a Smith from VA. Don't we all (ha)! Mine was Nicholas Smith. I'll have to review who his relatives were and see if I can find an Abram. If so, and if no one was adopted, etc....your Abram's Y-DNA would be the same as that of my Nicholas. As many Smiths as there were, I'll be surprised if they're kin. Mine ended up in KY by the 1800s.
