Hello Nita and I must holler THANKS!!!!! I have been researching Granville McPherson for years. His 4th wife, Mary Kate Johnson Rountree was sister to my Gr-Gr-Grandmother Serena Anne Johnson Watson. Serena and Mary Kate were daughters of Rev. Samuel Johnson and I have for years had the theory that Rev. Johnson and Granville's mother were brother and have now proved that theory for me!!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!! I have a great deal of research on Granville that you might find interesting of you care. There is also a book titled "Red River Women" that has a nice biography of Lydia Starr in it. Lydia actually was co-editor of the newspaper Granville owned in Caddo, IT. She published under a pen name because she was a woman at the time, though she later published her own paper in Sherman, TX. Lydia was also a well known poet of her day.

it sounds like you have a great deal of facts on Granville and his family connections with the Johnson's...i would really like to share in that info. Also, if you will check under the Blanco County, TX board on this BBS, you will find a great deal of info I just posted to another query for Granville.

Once again, thanks!
