If Hazel's maiden name was "Butt", her family may have been in North Dakota during the 1900 and 1910 censuses. Those records (also available, in transcription form, on family search) list a family headed by Arthur and Jennie Butt with 5 children born in Michigan, and the next 7 born in North Dakota. If her maiden name was "Secor", I had no luck tracking her down. The marriage reg. gives her name as Hazel M. Butt Secor, and indicates she was married once before. I couldn't find a record of her first marriage - be it to a "Secor" or Butt". The marriage to Wm. Barber gives her father's name as "Max", but maybe that was a nickname?
Wm.'s father is given as James and mother as Bridget. There was a James and a Bridget Barber living in Montreal in 1881 census; and a J. H. Barber and Bridget in St. David's Ward, Toronto in 1891, but no William listed as a child.
Good Luck with your search. It can be a daunting task, sometimes.
