Hugh BAIRD / BEARD received a land grant (date unknown) which he conveyed to William Baird. He appears a few other times in other land records of Lancaster County, Camden District in South Carolina. He left Lancaster in the early 1790's and was in Abbeville at least by 1797.

Hugh and Adam BAIRD / BEARD were members of Cedar Springs congregation in Abbeville District, SC.

There was a Hugh, Simon, John and Adam Beard/Baird who signed a petition to have Reverend Alexander Porter preach at Cedar Springs Associate Reformed Church on 1 March 1797. Reverend Porter asked to be released from Cedar Springs to go to Kentucky and this was granted in August of 1814, they left in September with 34 members took wagons, and livestock and headed for Kentucky. (From book "Destiny of the Scotch-Irish an account of a Presbyterian Migration 1720-1853" by H. Leonard Porter III, From Ballybay, Ireland to Washington County, New York to Abbeville District, South Carolina to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Preble County, Ohio to Randolph County, Illinois and the Central Illinois Prairie.)

CENSUS RECORDS: 1800 Abbeville County, South Carolina page #25
BAIRD, Hugh 2 males over 45, 2 males 16 to 26, 1 female over 45.

Would SC 1790 census records have more information ?
