Norm Thanks for your reply and I am adding this to my file. Frankly all I know about my grgrandfather Charles Burke is that he was born in Canada about 1832 and both his mother and father were also born in Canada. On the 1851 Agricultural lists he appeared to be on Scugog Island and in 1861 he was residing in Bowmanville with a wife and five sons. He is listed as a carpenter. I have no idea if he had brothers and sisters although that would seem likely. I also am having great difficulty in finding his parents names. Thus any Burkes in that area could be part of his family at this point I have no way of knowing. Thanks for your input every bit helps. Murray
