My name is Bob Blankenship, Cherokee, North Carolina. I was born and raised here on the Cherokee Reservation. My wife, I, eight children, and 17 grandchildren are members of the Eastern Cherokee Tribe. I am presently serving a fourth term on our Tribal Council and also am the compiler of 6 Cherokee Roots books relating to membership of the Tribe.
While there were several Blankenship's on the 1883 rolls and several applied for membership on the 1909 Guion Miller Roll, my blood comes from my Grandmother, Arizona Swayney Blankenship who married my grandfather Abraham Turner Blankenship from Flag Pond Tennesse. Abe's dad was Andrew Jackson Blankenship, whom died in Portland Or. 1947 under an alias of James Austin. Andrew's parents were Presley Blankenship and Sarah Banks Blankenship. Preley's parents were Micajah Blankenship (Ruthorford County) and Emelia Marlowe. Micajah,s parents were another Presley Blankenship, born 1765 and Francis "Frankie" Ross. Presley's parents were Elisha Blankenship and Mourning Ross.
My father was Roy E. Blankenship, son of Abe and Arizona Swayney Blankenship.
