Wm and Slatie had not been married 11 yrs by 1910 according to the 1900 record for William who was still single. Venture to guess they married sometime in 1900 or 1901 though. Her maiden name was Jackson according to biography below. I did not find a Jackson female whose first name looked similar to Sletia.

Thanks for all of the info. What I am really trying to find out, is where JACK PHILLIPS b. 1914 d. 1928 is buried. He was shot by BILL BOSLEY when fishing in the Corsicana River. I wonder if there is any access to a newspaper in that area (Navarro or Limestone CO. TX), as seems to me there would be an article or at least an obit in it. . My sister-in-law is sister of this JACK PHILLIPS and she is still living in Scottsdale, AZ. This sibling is the only one she doesn't have bur., etc. on. She says her mother's sister, SILETIA was m. to BILL BOSLEY. That would mean her maiden name was PHILLIPS. Obit should have been in the newspaper, I would assume. My sister-in-law's parents were sharecroppers and the BOSLEY family were a family of means. She said, the Sheriff came to their house after the incident and advised them to leave town, which they did. The boy that shot him was never charged. The boy who did the shooting is buried in cemetery in Richland TX, but can't find where JACK PHILLIPS was bur. Verna

This doesn't answer the question of where he's buried, but it does nail down the date. A local paper is still preferable.

Thanks for sending the article from the newspaper. I thought maybe it was a local newspaper, but you state it is the Dallas news. I already had the article. Do you know of a paper in Corsica, Kirvin or Richland? I live in CA. so am not able to search the area for any other newspapers that might have more information. My sister-in-law, who is JACK'S sister, says the Sheriff came to their house and told them to leave the area at once. Bill Bosley shot Jack, after Jack beat Bill's, son, in a horse race. Bosley family had land, etc. and the Phillips were sharecroppers. Have you ever heard of this explanation for the shooting? Do you know of anyone else that might be searching this line of PHILLIPS? Thanks, again Verna

My great great grandmother was Emma Phillips Holloway (b. 10 Mar 1867 or thereabout) married to William Holloway. I've been looking for information on her for years. There's been some family speculation she was of Indian decent but I can't find anything to prove that. Emma was mother to Robert Lafayette Holloway who married virginia franks who had 4 children. Robert miller, neil golden, and william calvin holloway. The latter being my grandfather. I apologize I have no dates to apply to the post, I'm on my blackberry making this post. - am trying to find out if my Emma might have been from this line in Navarro. My Holloway line has been in Corsicana since 1770's or there about. I would appreciate any information that might tie my Phillips to some line in Texas. I've found info saying Emma was born in Texas but her father and mother were from GA.Please help?? Thanks. Julie Holloway Powers
