A former Citizen Injured

Sioux Falls, S. D., Dec. 9. Fred W. Pettigrew, brother of ex-Senator Pettigrew, well known throughout the state, lies in a critical condition at his home in South Sioux Falls, as the result of an accident or assault Saturday night.

He was found in the road near his home in an unconscious condition, soon after leaving his house to do some chores about the yard.

The two hired men who found him say they heard the sound of a team being driven rapidly away from the vicinity a few moments before discovering the prostrate form of their employer. The injured man has been delirious since found, and nothing can be ascertained as to whether he was accidently ran into or was the victim of intended robbery--Inter Ocean,

Later reports received by relatives here say that Mr. Pettigrew's recovery is doubtful and that the mishap was purely accidental.
