You mentioned a John Peavey in your note. My father's father was named John. The Peavey's pretty much lived in and around Bangor, ME.
Do you know any thing at all about these Peaveys?

My husband is a Peavy descendant, and my info lists a Moses Peavy b. in New Hampshire in 1823, son of Ichabod Peavy and Sarah Potter ( census info). I have little back on the Peavys, but a lot on Sarah Potter.

We have researched the Peavey's from Kansas beginning with
Eugene Peavey in Wichita and continuing back
to Moses T. who married Mary O. Howard
Jan. 16, 1843 in Exeter, Penobscot County,
Maine. Children were: Alonso, Mary M., George A.,
and Emma M. Peavey. According to the the 1850
Census for Maine, he was born in Maine. We keep
running across other information that indicates
he may have been born in NH. We would be glad to
e-mail you the portion of our family tree that
fits with yours. It appears we are related in
some fashion and it would be nice to see what
that relationship is. We'll look forward to
hearing from you.

I am also researching the surname of Peavey. I am compiling a genealogy which is now 32 pgs which doesn't include my direct link as I am trying to find yet. However, to help find my link I'm trying to link as many peaveys as I can. I have some info on this Moses T. Peavey whose Father according to his relation is a John Peavey. Trying to find what John Peavey this is so that I can link to the tree I have currently that goes back to Edward b. 1666. Please email me at
ps-I have been seriously researching the name for over a year and at least 9 months with June Peavey who has researched the name for over 30 years!!

I am from a long pevy/peavy family line. We come from Louisiana. There are a number of pevy's burried in Louisiana. Just give me some names and I will see if I can match them up. There is a M.T. Pevy who married a J. S. Kea in our family line.

I hope I can help!

Thanks Lois
