Dorothea R. Ehlert (R could stand for Regina) 1820-1897

What I know
Wilhelm, Herman and his wife Wilimine and daugter Emma along with Wilimines Father immigrated in 1876.

In 1880 Herman and his wife along with lived in Clayton township Winnebego County and came to the Pella Embarrass
area a few years later with there son also named Herman. They stayed there the rest of their lives.

William married Louise Braatz in 1880 in Belle Plaine Shawano County. On their marriage certicicut his fathers name was listed the same as his Christ Frederick Wilhelm Ehlert. His mothers name was listed as Dorothea Regina Ehlert.

Herman and Wilimina are burried in Zion Luthern Cemetery Embarrass. Also burried there is Dorothy R. Ehlert. I am guessing that Dorothy is the mother of Herman and William.

William and Louise are burried at Woodlawn cemetery in Shawano.

I have been also researching the August and Louise Ehlert family also from this area. I am looking for proof that William, Herman, and August are brothers and are the children of the Dorothy R. Ehlert burried in Embarrass.

I have done extensive research on these families and would be happy to help anyone else interested in these families.

I am still researching the above families.

William and Herman's brother is August but not the one listed above but is August Ehlert married to Augusta Nix.

I have also found a sister Louise Ehlert Married to Charles Berndt. Brothers Frank from Milwaukee and Fred and Christian who to the best of my knowledge stayed in Germany.

I do belive Dorothea Ehlert burried in Embarrass WI is the mother of this family. She is burried next to Charles and Louise.

Following is a few obits from this family.

When Mr. Ehlert went to that farm fifty-two years ago, there were seven acres cleared. There were only three of four houses in Shawano. The Upham store, across from the Northwestern track were afterwards laid was the only business place. Mr. Ehlert helped to lay the Northwestern tracks, the original road from Neenah to Clintonville, and afterwards he helped build the Oconto branch.

Through these early years of contentment and hard work the farm was built up to one of the good farms of the community. The children living are Mrs. Wm. In her death this community loses a good Christian woman a mother of a good family and a greatly respected citizen.

I am a descendant of these Ehlerts: the Wilhelm and Louise of which you speak were my ggrandparents. One of their sons, Wilhelm Hermann (William, "Bill") was my grandfather. I have a lovely photo with lots of family from the 50th anniversary of Wilhelm and Louise and a brother of Wilhelm. Glad to share whatever we can for each other.
