Becky, I am a direct descendant of Balser. In fact, we have traced family before Johann Wilhelm and all the way to 1997. My son, four years old next month. Is the 12th generation in our line. Let me know how I can help. Got lots of info.
Best of Luck, Wilford

I am not from his son side Balser. I am from his daughter side, Anna Catherine Kale b. 1739. She married Johann Carl/Charles Ward in 1760. Donald Ward

Hi Becky,
I descend from Johann Wilhelm Kell's brother Johann Christian Kell (1714-aft.1783). Christian stayed in Pennsylvania and probably died in York County. His son John Kell (1750-1827) and wife Catherine Culbertson are my ancestors. Johann Georg Kell (born abt. 1675), father of Johann Wilhelm and Johann Christian is believed to have come to Pennsylvania with them in 1744, and presumably died there shortly after. Johann Georg Kell's brother Georg Wilhelm Kell (1681-aft. 1740s) migrated to England in 1709 and then New York in 1710. He had a son and several daughters. It appears that this branch moved to Pennsylvania in the 1740s as well, and descendents of one of the daughters (surnamed Miracle) migrated on to North Carolina. There were also Keal descendents of the 1709 immigration that settled in Ireland. Not much is known of them, but they may descend from a brother of Georg Wilhelm Kell and Johann Georg Kell. It is a very large family. The early generations of the family are sketchy, but it appears to begin with Georg Kell residing in Rengsdorf, Germany. It seems that he had three sons; Hans Peter, Johann Wilhelm and Johannes. Hans Peter was the father of Georg Wilhelm and Johann Georg mentioned above. Have you found any Revolutionary War service for Balthasar/Balser in North Carolina? Good luck with your research. Best wishes from your distant cousin.

Dear Donald,
I descend from Johann Christian Kell (1714-aft.1783), brother of Johann Wilhelm Kell (1708-1786) of North Carolina. Christian, my ancestor, lived in York County, Pennsylvania. His son John Kell (1750-1827) married Catherine Culbertson and moved to Perry County, Pennsylvania in 1811.
I did not have any material on Johann Wilhelm Kell/Kale's daughters (other than the names and birthdates). Could you share information on your ancestress and her children with Charles Ward? Thanks in advance. Please contact me at:

Am also of the "Balser" kale line (wife Nancy Bridges). My great grandfather was Avery Hampton Kale son of Paulson Kale. Am interested in finding info on Hampton's wife, Mary Francis Smith of Mo.
