Was the Peter you are referring to the one married to Maria Magdalena Platter? This is the first one I have that I am certain of his name, children, etc. He was born in 1756 and died 9-4-1841. I would love to have his parents name for sure. I know of four possible brothers, two for certain. I don't have any sisters listed. Thanks, Carol

Barbara,
Peter is the one who was married to Maria (Mary)Magdalena Platter. Peter Platter was her brother. The families of Peter Wickerham and Peter Platter came down the Ohio River together in a flat boat. They settled in KY first, and then came to Adams County. Mary is buried beside Peter at the top of the hill in the Locust Grove Cemetery. I have a family history for the Platters that reaches back into the mid 1600's in Switzerland.
I have a lot material my mother-in-law organized before she died. The first mention I see of George Adam Wickerham is in undated material from about 30 years ago when a family researcher found his name on a passenger list (as Wickersheim)and said he could have been the father of Peter, Adam, Jacob, John, and Joseph. I have a copy of an obit. from William, son of Adam, that lists his grandfather's name as Peter from Chester County, PA. There is a Peter Wickersham listed in an early census there. Other family records suggest the name "Adam". I would like to know if there is any actual family or other record which documents the connection of George Adam to our family (or to some other family). It would be nice to clear this up.
Thanks for helping with this. Perhaps all of us together can solve this mystery. Carol

Barbara,
I looked at the source you gave, and I see why you thought Mary Platter was the wife of George Adam. The sketch was written by Mary, whose materials I now have. She didn't make that part about his wife real clear.
I, also, live in Adams County, and I will try to get her information to the genealogical library. She has preserved and compiled a lot of information. I want to share it. Thanks for responding. Carol

Hi, Barbara,
About two weeks ago, I took Mary C. Wickerham's collection of information on the Wickerham Family to the genealogy library, and they copied it. She had lots of obits, letters, pictures, etc. Thought you might be interested in what she had compiled.
Have you found any new information?
