Amanda: My great grandfather was named Henry Clay
Mumma. He was born in 1838 and died in 1910.
He had 14 children, among them my Grandfather,
Thomas Mumma. However, I see no mention of a
child named Lillie. There is a webside on the
Mummas and their ancestry that is maintained by
Doug Mumma. To access it I go into INFOSEEK, then
type in family tree. Once you're in there, you'll
see a little sub menu with alphabetical divisions. Click
on the one containing the M. Once that screen
comes up, scroll down and you'll see the Mumma
website listed. Maybe there will be some answers
in there for you. If you would like to communicate
with me further, my e mail is I'm
originally from Dayton, Ohio but am now living in
the Columbus, Ohio area.

Thank you so much for e-mailing me. I went to the mumma site and really Lillie was on there. My grandma remembered calling her Lillie, but her real name was Louisa May. The website does have some information on her but nothing about her marriages and other children. Louisa married Walter Schooley and together they had 4 children: Charlie, Myrtle, Pearl and Emerson. Walter ran off after Louisa had all 4 children. Louisa married another man by the last name of Bryon?? Charlie and Emerson decided to take Mumma as their last name instead of Schooley. I don't know about Myrtle much. Pearl married Oscar Black. They had 3 girls: Virginia, Margaret, and Della. Pearl and Oscar divorced and Pearl then married Charlie Sherman in Troy, Missouri. Together they had William (aka Pete), Margie Sudbrock (Who is my grandmother), Marcella Daub, Russell, Harold, and Donald. My grandmother Margie would be your cousin. Louisa would be your Aunt??? Please write me back if you want more information or would like to swap information with me. Thanks

Louisa May Mumma was my grandfather's sister,
making her my great aunt. Welcome to the
Since discovering this website and Doug
Mumma's website, I've found lots of relatives
I didn't know I had.

Did you notice under Louisa May they have listed
a Versella, born Dec 22, 1898 in Harrison Twshp.?
That's in the northern part of Dayton, Ohio.
Have you ever heard stories about an out-of-wedlock
child of Louisa's?

If you have particulars on all the descendents
of Louisa, such as birth and death dates for
them, you should probably contact Doug Mumma
so he can update the Mumma website. That's
what I did, once I found him. I recently sent him
updates,which he will post.

I never knew my grandfather, Thomas J. Mumma
nor did I ever hear much about his family.
You see, my dad was still a small child when
he died. I guess I just never thought to ask
him about any of his father's siblings.
My childhood memories are of my grandmother
Mumma and her sisters. I'm really glad to
finally hear from the other side of the
