I am looking for information on a Charles Hanscom who
was born around 1870, withing five years, who
lived in Willmar, Minnesota. I know that his
family was well-known in the area. He married
Bessie Mae Ward and possibly moved to St. Paul, MN
after his marriage. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

CHARLES RICHARDS HANSCOM was b. in 1873, the eldest son of Amasa Bigelow Hanscom (1841-1927) and his first wife, Ellen (Richards) Hanscom (1849-1877).

According to my files, Charles m. 1st, BESSIE MAY WARD of Willmar. She d. about 1926 or 1927. He then m. 2nd, MARY (WAGNER) MABRY, who d. about 1936. No children by either wife, although he had a stepson by the last name of Mabry and a stepdaughter, "Mrs. Perry".

Charles R. Hanscom was a postal clerk on the railroad between St. Paul and Winnepeg. He died in Willmar, 13 December 1947, age 74.

In 1880, following his mother's death, Charles Hanscom was living in the home of his paternal grandfather, David Oden Drisko Hanscom (1814-1903) of Marshfield, Maine.

Charles had a brother, Lewis /"Deak" Hanscom (1875-1957) and a sister, Clara Ellen Hanscom (1877-1888), both full siblings.

His father remarried, on 13 May 1879, to ALMA WILLEY (c.1846-1937). By her, there were two more children [half-siblings to Charles]: Bertha Lucia (Hanscom) Wilson (1881-1928) and George Spencer Hanscom (1883-1910). I am in contact with Bertha's daughter, L. Jane Wilson of Minneapolis.

Hope this helps...
