Hello Jerry-I don't know if there's a common thread here or not, but I've been searching for various members of the Gallagher clan myself in the New York area. My GGG Grandmother was Margaret Gallagher, born circa 1870 to John Gallagher and Annie Naughton. John had 7 children, the sixth was
named Thomas. Thomas married Grace and they had Muriel and Roland. - I'm 46 years old, and that brings it to the great grand (relative) time frame. Just for background,
John Gallagher's other children were Margaret, twins(names unknown), John (born 1875),Michael, and Mamie(Mary). So far, I haven't been able to track (with any certainty) anyone beyond this window in either direction. Hope there's a link here,
Cheers - Stan

I am looking for my husband's family from NYC, NY (specifically Brooklyn or Manhattan I think). The only Gallagher male names I have at this point are:
Peter Cornelius
John Joseph

They were all born in NY sometime in the 1930s and 1940s. I know that their father's name was Peter Cornelius Gallagher too, but we have no information beyond his death date in the mid 1950s. They were involved in the tugboat industry.

I'd love to hear if you know anything about any of these Gallaghers. Thanks!

Stan, my ggrandfather, John Gallagher, was in Ny - Staten Island, for the 1880 census. Two doors down was a Thomas Gallagher. Since Thomas was the name of John's father, this Thomas could have been his brother. John named his children some of the same names as your family, including Michael and Mamie.
Do you have any more information about your Thomas? MY e-mail address is

My great great grandfather was Cornelius
Gallagher. He was married to Margaret Cannon
who died in child birth in 1853. From what I
understand,Cornelius went to Illinois and
the infant son was left behind with the
Cannon family. I am trying to locate the
ancestors of that son. Please let me know
if there is any connection. Thank you.

Although there may be a connection, I don't know think that this is the Cornelius that I am looking for. The one I am looking for is the parent of five children born in the 1930s and 1940s.

Cornelius was my great-grandfather not my
great great grandfather as stated in my
original reply. Anyway, I thought that
perhaps he might also be a great grandfather
to the Cornelius that you are looking for.
If you learn anything new I would appreciate
hearing from you.

Although there is probably still not a connection, I have a little more information. My husband's grandfather, Peter Cornelius Gallagher, was born in February of 1907. His father's name was Peter Cornelius whose father's name was Cornelius Gallagher. Cornelius Gallagher had to have been born sometime in the mid-1800s. He married Annie Fagan. They were the ones who moved to the USA from Ireland.
