Hello, I didn't find a Hiram or Dewitt ARNOLD in Illinois around the time Garrett and Mary were living in LaSalle Co. in 1850, or on a later census. If they were older than Henry who was 21 in 1850, maybe they stayed in New York.
The son Blumer age 8 in 1850, I found in Somonauk, DeKalb Co., IL. on the July 20th 1860 census, shown as Bloomer age 17, farm laborer, b. NY, in the household of David and Cordelia NIXON.
In 1870 Mayfield, DeKalb Co., IL. (August),is Bloomer now Gilbert ARNOLD age 27, b. NY with wife Adeline 27 b. IL. and son Charles age 2, b. IL. in the household of Ira and Ester Nichols?
On the ILL. State Archives there is a Gilbert L. Arnold who married Adaline Nichols 25 Dec. 1866 in DeKalb Co., IL.
June 4, 1880 Sycamore, DeKalb Co., IL.
Gilbert ARNOLD 37, printer, NY/NY/NY
Adaline 36, NY/NY/NY
Charles G. 12, IL.
Arthur T. 7, IL.
Fred W. 3, IL.

June 8, 1900 Milton Twp, Wheaton City, DuPage Co., IL., E.D. 33
Arthur T. ARNOLD b. May 1873, age 27, IL/NY/IL?, field worker, ILL SS_____?
Anna M. Feb. 1875, age 25, 1 child, 1 living, IL/Pa/Africa
Leslie J. Aug. 1899, IL.

Illinois State Archives show that Elizabeth ARNOLD married David P. GRAY 29 Aug. 1855 in Kendall Co., IL.
and a Catherine ARNOLD married George Bender 8 Jan. 1863 in LaSalle Co., IL.

Lee Co., IL. newspaper index for Mrs. David GRAY has mention of her death 21 May 1897, two funeral notices, 22 May 1897 and 27 May 1897.

Thank you! The Elizabeth and Catherine are Garret's children. The Gilbert is a mystery. I did not think of Hiram and Dewitt being older and in New York, and will pursue that for a bit. Thank you for the suggestion.

The Illinois State Archives show BLOOMER ARNOLD in the Civil War Records for the 52nd IL. US Infantry. He was 19, lived in Sandwich, DeKalb Co., IL., farmer, born NY, Joined 28 Sept. 1861 Geneva, IL.,for 3 years, and mustered in 19 Nov. 1861 Geneva, IL. Does not show where or when mustered out.
The Archives also show a BLOOMER ARNOLD married ELLEN L. FISH 29 Oct. 1863, DeKalb Co., IL.
There was an Ellen Fish age 13, b. PA. <1847> in Somonauk, DeKalb Co., IL. in 1860 with Horace and Catherine FISH, pg. 31, image 19, while Bloomer ARNOLD age 17 was in Somonauk, DeKalb Co. on pg. 218, image 6.
I was unable to find Ellen(FISH)ARNOLD in 1870 with Bloomer.
She may have died and Bloomer remarried to Adeline NICHOLS.
Possibly "Bloomer" may have been a nickname, although I don't know why he would use it on official records.
Gilbert L. Arnold in 1870 and 1880 DeKalb Co. is a very close fit as far as age to have been the son of Garret and Mary Arnold of LaSalle Co., IL. in 1850.

Arthur T. ARNOLD, s/o Gilbert and Adeline Arnold ends up in Columbus, Franklin Co., Ohio in 1920. He had a son Gilbert b. 1 Sept. 1902 as per the SSDI and died in Columbus July 1980.

Thank you. One thing: Bloomer Arnold is not the same person as Gilbert L. Arnold. Bloomer is the son of Garret and Mary Arnold. He did marry Ellen Fish in De Kalb County, 29 October, 1863. He bought land alongside that of his mother in Pigeon Grove, Iroquois County. He and Ellen had four children: Lillian, Mary, Harry, and Garret. Bloomer Arnold died 31 January, 1877. Ellen applied for his Civil War veteran's pension.(Organization Index to Pension Files of Veterans Who Served Between 1861 and 1900. Publisher: NARA State: Illinois,Arm Of Service: Infantry Regiment: 52 Company: H Name: Arnold, Bloomer Date: 05-NOV-1880 Gives his date of death.)

Ellen married again, William Doty, and died in Kansas in 1936

Hi, Now I see, you found the right Bloomer ARNOLD. How was the name spelled in 1870 Iroquois Co., IL.? I looked all over for them.

Ellen G? (Arnold) DOTY adopted a son? F.R. ARNOLD, male, age 12, born Kansas City, shown on the 1895 census for Clarence Twp., Barton Co., Kansas.

Mar. 1, 1905 Clarence, Barton Co., Kansas showed
G. B. ARNOLD 31, Illinois
Tracy ARNOLD 19 female, <1886>, Kansas,
H. R. ARNOLD 32, IL,
E. D? DOTY 58 PA and
F.R. ARNOLD 20 male, Kansas

Mar. 1, 1915, Clarence, Barton Co., Kansas
Mary 25.

Do you have all you need on Henry ARNOLD in Lee Co., IL.?
I found a newspaper article about the estate of his dtr. Ida L. ARNOLD online (b. 10 June 1864, Died 3 Oct. 1943) for Dixon, IL. dated Nov. 6, 1944 and
the obit. for a Charles ARNOLD 78, son of Henry and Margaret ARNOLD dated May 3, 1947.

I would really appreciate more on Henry ARNOLD in Lee Co., IL. as maybe that would help me find the Hiram and Dewitt mentiomed as his father's heirs. I would also like the newspaper article about the estate of Ida L. ARNOLD and the obit. for Charles ARNOLD, son of Henry and Margaret ARNOLD dated May 3, 1947.

If they are too big for here, please contact me directly : to scan them.

I have an obituary of Ellen Fish Arnold Doty, if you would like.
Thanks so much for helping.

Oh.........I didn't find Bloomer in 1870, only land and pension records, but they must be there.
