Someone had sent me an email listing the death date of Edwin Napoleon Thacker (b. Oct 15, 1858) as 1929. Since he is alive in the 1930 census, I suspect it may not be correct. He was the owner of what is now McQueen's store on US route 33 in lower Louisa County. He was known as "Uncle Maumpie" to the family. The Thacker land was adjacent to the store and a small family cemetery sits a few hundred yards away, with about half marked and half unmarked stones. I have a very large amount of information about this family. Since I am currently deployed, I can't run up to Louisa to check his death date. I was hoping someone might have it. The Thacker family intertwines with the Tate family extensively in Louisa County.

Sara(Sally Ann Tate 1833-1909 was married to my gggrandfather, Robert A or K Thacker 1820-1890. I am trying to make the connection from Robert's father, John Thacker to his father, who I think is Ambrose Thacker, wife Molly Vaughn. I only have Robert's mother's name as Mary (unknown)born in 1788 Louisa, Louisa County Virignia.....Do you have any info that might help me on my trek? Would also be interested in the stories you have about the Thacker Family.
Hope you have an opportunity to reply.

It is definitely A. Robert's middle name was Anderson. His wife was Sarah Ann Tate. If you follow the census information, it is tough to get much further back than Robert because prior to 1850 you lose all the individual family members. Robert and Sarah had a bunch of kids (16) and two of their grandsons Henry Robert Thacker and Benjamin Franklin Thacker married two of the my grandfather Wallace Tate's sisters. They actually eloped together (the four of them). I have John's wife as Betsy Mary Lewis b. 1787.

One of Robert and Sarah's daughters Mary Elizabeth Thacker was one of my great grandmothers. I have an entire chapter in a book about my other maternal great grandmother (Hettie Gilbert Edwards) because of the degree of entanglement of these two families.

Thank you! I've corrected John A. to John Anderson Thacker.
His son James Franklin Thacker is my great grandfather. Frank Asa Thacker is my grandfather. Milton Bosh Thacker is my father. I am the first in my generation. Our immediate Thacker family is small. My father has one living brother Frank Adrian and a brother that died just after birth. I only have one brother, but he has 13yr old triple boys. My brother is the youngest of five. So, where I live in Utah my Thacker family consists of my mother, brother and his boys. We four girls are all married and have families. I'm nearly 64, my husband is 69, we have four children and 15 grandchildren. Number 15 is a boy due in August. I'm an artist and product designer recently retired.
I've only been going genealogy for 5 weeks, but I am definitely fascinated.
I've tried all day and can't find out anything about Betsy Mary Lewis Thacker 1787, married to John Thacker. Can you suggest any sources for her information? We have just called her Mary Thacker for a long time and I would love to gift her with her ancestors, if possible.
My mother would love to have Tate family information. My grandson is named Nathan Wyatt and a granddaughter is Nora Tate.
Look forward to hearing from you. I found the records you complied and submitted to 1870 Selected Louisa County Virginia census. Thank you....
Anne

I may have been unclear. It is Robert Anderson Thacker, not John. James Franklin Thacker was called "Uncle Jim Frank" by my uncle Ed Tate. Ed was a little over five when James died but Ed remembered him. He used to make chairs (those Adirondack kind you see in people's yards). I have James Franklin Thacker married to Mary Lewis Dickerson b. 1856- d. before 26 Jan 1920. I have them married in about Jan 1877. I have four children by them: Mary Ethel Apr 1889, Dickerson Clarence Sr 9 Jul 1890, Frank Asa 1 May 1893, and an unnamed child who died before 7 Jun 1900. The unnamed child is based on a census listing.
I do not have any descendants of Frank Asa Thacker in my database. A lot of my early Thacker information came from Sylvia Wright who sent it to me. Judy Bowles also sent me a lot of stuff.

From Marriages of Louisa County, Virginia 1766 - 1815; page 100 - ______ 1814. John THACKER and Betsey Lewis. Married by Rev. William Y. Hiter. Ministers returns p. 390. She is also listed as Mary in some places so I put the two names together.

I am sure you probably already know that Nathaniel Wyatt Tate was Robert A. Thacker's father in law (Sarah's father). In that time period, there were at least four Nathaniel or Nathan Tate people around. Careful when you sort them out.

Gayle King Blankenship's Book, Virginia Families of Louisa, Hanover and Monroe Counties has the Robert and Sarah Thacker family listed on page 106. I have made a number of corrections to that information but that family was peripheral and was not one her main areas of interest. She is a great gal, by the way.
I also posted Sarah Ann Tate Thacker's will on line.

Thank you for spending time answering my guestions. Is any of your information formatted so it can be sent to me jpeg or pdf? Don't know who Sylvia Wright or Judy Bowles are. Any contact information for them? Email is afetzer@fetzerwood.com
Would it be of use for me to send the information I have on our small line? I have a few Photos.
I have asthma and allergies including chemical, so the work I do will be done on the computer in my office. I tried to visit the Genealogy Library in Salt Lake City, but had to leave because I started to have an asthma attack...something in the library is a trigger.
Yesterday I also found your submission of the 1870 Selected Louisa County Virginia Census Data with notes. It was a great help learning more details about Robert and Sarah A. Thacker.
I am still not connected to anyone past Robert and Sarah.
Thank you.
