Looking for any leads on a Joseph Chapman born 1789 who married Mary Unknown. It is beleived he and his children were born in Claredon, Rutland Co. VT. I believe my gr-gr-gr-grandmother Roxanna may be his daughter but am not sure. Any leads appreciated. I have information on Joseph and family who emmigrated to Herkimer Co. NY. Thanks, Marilyn
Thanks for the information. I did not find a link, but will keep it for further reference. I do not know if the Chapmans were Quaker. They settled in Herkimer County in German Flats, which I supect would be a German settlement. Thanks again for your response. Marilyn
Sorry all the information I have on the Chapmans are:
d/o John Chapman + Sarah Booth of Vermont
(b) 05 Sept. 1738 Pembroke, Plymouth MASS
(m) JOHN ROGERS 18 July 1759 Plymouth, MASS
John and Sarah moved abt 1770 to settle in Vermont

Were your Chapmans Quakers? Perhaps you could ask for look ups on Quaker websites??
I was just perusing the Chapman board, and it looks like I have a link to your Joseph Chapman. The dob I have for him is 7/2/1789 in Clarendon, Rutland Co., VT.
Do you have any more info on his wife and/or parents. I don't know anything about his wife, but I have William (b.abt1769)and Ailee? (b.abt1773) both also born in Clarendon. I am related to Joseph through his brother Hiram.
I have some info. about Chapmans fromthe book "Clarendon Vt. 1761-1976".Please e-mail me direct, as a webtvuser, I have trouble posting on this board.
Re: Early Quaker ROGERS - 1700s
What do you want to know about the Rogers of VT? One of my ancestors was married to Elizabeth Rogers, Dau. of Wing Rogers and Deliverence Chatman. He was from Mansfield, MA and died in Danby, VT.
