A Catherine Bucher is in my family tree. She probably was born 1785 or later. She married George Dively and lived in Blair Co. Pa. I need more facts on her. Can you help me?

Ever see a John E.Bucher in your records, born 24OC1806 in Lebanon Co., believed son of Heinrich and Elizabeth (FABER) Bucher? Married Catharine____, moved to Lycoming Co. about 1840. Can't find any clue what Catharine's maiden name was.

Why did you not have a unique name. John is so common that it gives all of us problems. There is a man in Kansass City that has done a lot of work on the Bucher/Bougher/Booher/etc lines. I no longer have his name or address, but you might keep an eye out for him on the various web pages. He had a lot of data on one Heinrich Bucher. Heinrich being Henry in English. I know that here was a Henry Bucher that was a son of Johanns Peter Bucher who died in what is now Dauphin Co PA in 1794. I know that there was a Benedict Bucher son of Dr. John Bucher of Cocalico Township Lancaster Co. PA that had a son named John Bucher. I know also the Dr. John Bucher had a son named Christian and another son named John. I cannot help you with the specifics of your question. I can tell you form German naming conditions that your man is most likely named Johanns Heinrich Bucher for John is English for Johanns and the H. most likely is for Hienrich. Oh, there was a Johanns Conrad Bucher in Lebanon Co. a Minister that was quite well known. He had 3 sons and all of them had a first name of Johanns: I believer the names were:
Johann Jacob Bucher
Johann John Bucher
Johann Conrad Bucher
My memory is not as good as it used to be and I no longer have the documents as I gave them away. Try looking in the Church records in Lancaster Co. PA.

County formation: Lancaster Co was split up: In 1785 Dauphin co was formed from Lancaster. In 1815 Lebanon co. was formed from Lancaster Co. and Dauphin Co. So you may have to look in all 3 counties to find your answer.

Classification: Query
Surnames: Bucher, Esselman
Do you have ANY info on a George Bucher b. abt 1800 in PA and married a Catherine Esselman (perhaps Eschleman)? I believe that they were married near 1820 and moved to Steuben County, NY where there son John G. Bucher was born abt 1835 (according to the census).
I would really appreciate some help! I don't know where in PA to begin looking!
