Found a family photo from the 1880's of a young woman holding a new born baby in a Christening gown but we cannot fully read what's written on the back. Can anyone help fill in another piece of the never ending puzzle?

Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks

All I can make out is:

"Keep this photo to ??? (give?) her brother."

(underneath that, it looks like "Leak" or "Teak."

There looks to be writing on the top half, but I cannot make it out.

"Keep this photo (could be a name) & her brother Jack"

The inscription begins:
"Keep this photo & oblige her brother" but the word following "brother" is illegible. Perhaps you know the members of the family and can figure out who wrote this.
The illegible word could be a given name and the word at the bottom may be a surname. ["Jeckel??"]

Thanks a million for taking the time to help out all, it's really appreciated. I've been trying to figure out that unkown word for so long now...I was hoping a fresh mind might read it differently.

The name Jack fits with the time period but I can't fit any other name into that unknown word. I was thinking it might be signed by Jack?? Photo attached if anyone's interested.

I think that the wording on the back might make a bit more sense if this picture turned out to be a 'memento mori'.

It was not un-common for photographs of deceased people to be taken in naturalistic 'living' poses. Some of these pictures appear quite extraordinary to the modern eye. Are you aware of a female at this time in your family tree dying in early infancy ?

Also, I don't know if you are aware, but TA Wynne of Castlebar is, it turns out, a major photographer. The family donated their collection to the mayo County Library in Ireland.

You might like to contact them and ask for their comments. If you search for MAYOLIBRARY you should be able to find them.

Yes there were quite a few children who died as infants in this family. The writing wasn't making sense to me because judging by her age Jack wasn't born yet. Maybe this is another sibling also named Jack who died as a baby. I wasn't thinking about the photo being a "memento mori".

Thank you for the tip!

It appears to say:

Keep this photo
Holly & her
brother
Jack
