Would like to connect with other researchers of these families. My gggg-grandfather was Asa SPENCER, b. abt 1783 RI, married to Sarah CALKINS, b. abt 1790 VT. They had 3 sons in VT: Waterman b. 1808, m. Russel GODFREY; Wright b. 1811, m. Sally JOSLIN; William, b. abt 1815-18 no more info. Other children b in Sheldon in 1820's: Marcia m. Benjamin JONES, Sarah m. Abram LONG, Melissa m. Amariah LINCOLN, Charles no other info, and possibly Catherine and Mary. Can anyone provide details on William, Charles, Catherine and Mary?

I believe the family moved to the Sheldon area in the early 1820's from VT and most remained there. Several are buried in Varysburg Cemetery. As I know records from the time are sketchy, I am hoping to connect with anyone else to compare notes. I would very much like to learn what happened to the other children of this family, confirm birth and marriage dates, and try to get that "fuller family tree" we all search for! I have many details, especially about Wright Spencer, that I can share.

Thank you.

From what I have learned, Amariah Lincoln was the son of Ichabod and Malinda Lincoln. Amariah and Melissa Spencer married about 1848, and had 5 children: Frances, Francis (Frank), Eva, Belle, and Emma. On 1850 census, they lived in Orangeville, and by 1870 were in Sheldon. Appolles Lincoln was an early settler of Orangeville, so possibly he is Ichabod's father.

When did your Lamb's move to MI? Wright Spencer (Melissa's brother) moved to Ingham Co in 1869.

Calkins, Joslin, Lincoln

Surnames: Langdon, Gratton
I have a Marilla Spencer (rumor has it they called her Rill) who married a Marcus Langdon. Marilla was born ca 1848 she and Marcus married ca 1864. Cannot locate them in the 1860 census yet.... They moved with the rest of the family to IA. The last census I can locate them is the 1870 Monroe County, IA. They had the following children:
James H., Washington Lee, Wellington F. (who later changed his name to William Frederick), and Charles.
If you think they might be part of your Spencer's I'd love to hear from you.
