The family member of a friend found a WWI Allied Victory Medal in their garden, belonging to this gentleman who was killed on the Italian front in WWI at age 26. His parents are listed by the CWGC as Son of Cadwaladr and Annie Roberts, of Bron Fferam, Dinorwic, Cwm-glo, Carnarvon, North Wales.

My friend's desire is to find an heir to whom the medal could be returned. There is presently no curator of the regimental museum, so our options to search are a bit limited.

It does not appear that Cpl Roberts married.

Hi,
I see you have not had any answers to your post. Did you find any ancestors of the medal holder.

Through the Royal Welsh Fusiliers website I found some more information about two brothers Benjamin d. 1955 and Cadwaladr d. 1978, both buried in the Llandinorwig churchyard with parents Annie and Cadwaladr.

William was born 05/1893, d. 24 Nov 1918.

There is a sister no one can locate due to the married name change. My next step was to start hunting family trees.

Also have this bit:

Thanks. The family I was helping with the research still live in the immediate area in Wales, and are going to start talking to older residents who may remember the Roberts family.

The chap on the other forum who was providing much of the info grew up with members of the family I was helping, so they're all connected now. It always amazes me the types of connections you find!

Hi,
I've recently joined ancestry and was telling a friend of mine this morning that I've been looking into my family tree. He asked if I could look up any of his ancestry and gave me the names of his great grandparents. I also typed their names into Google to see what came up and one of the items listed was your message on the ancestry message boards.
His name is James May and his great grandparents are Cadwaladr Roberts and Annie Roberts. I've just called him and mentioned the name William Cadwaladr Roberts and he said yes, that's my grandmother's brother who died in WW1 and was in the fusiliers!
James' mothers maiden name is Elizabeth Anne Jones. She's still alive and lives in Benllech on Anglesey. James lives in Beaumaris in Anglesey. Her mother (James grandmother) was Catherine and William Cadwaladr Roberts was her brother James isn't on ancestry but has asked me to give you his email address and mobile number to get in contact. He's amazed I spotted this by chance!

Here'James's details:
