My Jenkins are all from Cabell county that I know of to date.
My Line of Jenkins and Holley are as follows:

Samantha Jenkins My Grandmother

Colonal Bailey Jenkins

Not sure yet of his father is either John Anderson Jenkins or William Anderson Jenkins Married Marritha Cremeans.

Marritha Cremeans parents were Isaac Cremeans & Elizabeth Holley.

Elizabeth Holley's mother I suspect was a Bayman.

Does any of this connect to your Jenkins and/or Holleys?

Please email me at

I am willing to share what information I have.

If your Cabell County JENKINS ancestors go back to a William JENKINS, born in the mid 1700s, whose family migrated from Wales, we may have common JENKINS ancestors.
If your HOLLEY ancestors include a Greenville HOLLEY (who married Agnes _?_ ) we may have HOLLEY ancestors in common.

Holley, Jenkins, Meadows & Cremeans Connection?

It would seem there may be a connection between our Cabell County HOLLEY & JENKINS ancestors. I've recently seen something about Isaac CREMEANS & Elizabeth HOLLEY but I can't find it now. Please provide dates, as that would really help (even approximate dates of births would be better than none) to locate your family.

I recall Nellie Jane DAVIS married James Lee BAYLOUS / BAYLESS but am unfamiliar with a BAYMAN family. Others may be familiar with that family name.

Our JENKINS family began with: William Jenkins, birth ca. 1768. His family migrated from Wales. He married ca. 1799 Rachel BRANNON / BRANNAN b. ca. 1780. They had at least three (3) sons and one known daughter:
Garland Jenkins, b. ca. 1800
Albert Jenkins, (supposedly war hero with statue somewhere)
__________Jenkins (male), b. ca. 1802
Henrietta Jenkins, birth ca. 1806
m. 29 Sept. 1824 in Washington (County seat of Rappahanock County) to William Woodard, b. ca. 1800. They raised 12 children. We're hoping others have more information about these ancestors.

I'm interested in when your Bailey JENKINS was born, since one of our HOLLEY ancestors was supposed to be Bailey HOLLEY and I wondered if the time period was the same. Also you might check Mason County for HOLLEY ancestors, as there were lots of HOLLEYs in that area. Our HOLLEYs lived mostly in Cabell, Mason amd Putnam Counties.

Our Catherine Ann (MEADOWS) HOLLEY, b 22 April 1847, d. c. 1909, was supposed to have lived for a time with her mother, Nancy's, oldest brother, John & Malinda Jane (CREMEANS) MEADOWS. There was a time when we thought Elizabeth HOLLEY and Isaac CREMEANS were Malinda's parents but the 1870 census gave info that made that unlikely.

We do have info about family members listed in John & Malinda Jane (CREMEANS) MEADOWS home on the 1870 census, if that would help someone else. We also have information from the 1850 census about who was living in the William and Mary ____ MEADOWS home (grandparents of our Catherine Ann MEADOWS mentioned above) who on 13 Nov 1867 married Joseph Timothy HOLLEY, b. 30 Aug 1848; d. 14 May 1894.

Joseph and Catherine were listed in the 1870 census with one child,Threadiare 1 year old. Since we are direct descendants (great great grandparents)and have never heard of that name, we assume the census worker was referring to their son, called "The". We hope someone can provide added info about our HOLLEY family. They raised nine(9)chilren:
Therion "The" HOLLEY, b. ca. 1869
Ida Irene HOLLEY
Addie HOLLEY, m. _____LEGG
Ada HOLLEY, b 27 July 1886, m. Oscar WALLACE
Mada HOLLEY, m. _____ DAILEY (Huntington Bank Pres.)
Ernest "Ernie" HOLLEY
Zachariah "Zack" HOLLEY
Greenville "Green" HOLLEY

We would like to hear from our Cabell County cousins, as we don't know the birth dates, birth order, spouses, and have relatively little info about our families siblings or their ancestors.

I am wondering if there is a Cabell Co. (Huntington) connection to a Beryl Wooten Davis. It was a second marriage for Clyde W. Davis of Huntington, WV, and it took place in California because Berly had a relative who was a minister there. This would have happened after 1934; Clyde died in 1957 or 1958 and we believe that Beryl was still alive. This would place their births in the 1980s.

Cabell County WVA. I am trying to research information on my gggrandmother, Louisiana EPLIN WOOTEN. I know she had a daughter named Polly who married a CREAMEANS. My mother said Polly died sometime in the 1940's or 50's. She had at least one child named Johnnie and possibly another called Junior. Polly's siblings included Ella WOOTEN JOHNSON, Maude America WOOTEN JOHNSON, Thurmond WOOTEN, Hurston Mack WOOTEN and Wilburn WOOTEN. I would like to correspond with Polly's descendants; I may have info on Louisiana's parents that I'm hoping Polly's descendants may be able to help me verify.

Re: Holley, Jenkins, Meadows & Cremeans Connection?

We might have a connection.

First, I have a Sarah/Sally Holley who married William S. Meadows, Jr. in 1836 in Mason Co., VA/WV. She was supposedly born 1811 in VA (possibly OH). William was the son of William S. Meadows, Sr. & Mary "Polly" Howard. I have no info as to Sarah's parents. I've been told Sarah died in Cabell Co., WV in 1872.

Second, I have Joseph Holley (born Dec. 1839) to ? & Rebecca Holley in Mason Co., VA. Joseph married Amanda A. Wallace (dtr of Benjamin H. Wallace & Emality "Lettie" Wilkes of Lunenburg Co., VA) in Gallia Co., OH in 1859.

Third, I show Calvin Jenkins (possible brother to Albert Jenkins) was the second husband of Nancy (Perry) Clagg (my direct ancestress via her first husband). One child, George Washington Jenkins.

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Exchange of info a given.

Thanks - Melinda
