I am working long distance on the Maine roots that are in Oxford and can't seem to find an on line source of burials and tombstones other than those on Find a grave. Thought maybe I would throw this out to the rest of you as "two or More minds are better than one". Am I missing a great website say for Rumford?

Try: 1)Ancestry.com's Maine Birth Records, 1621-1922
2) ----ditto---- Maine Death Records, 1617-1922
3) ----ditto---- Maine Marriage Records, 1705-1922
Sometimes: I just inquire of a websearch an item:
As an example: "The Durgins of Oxford County Maine"
Then follow a path if any.

Then they were born and married before 1922.
It is very possible they are listed in those two
important records. In two years the 1940
US Census records will be released.
An inherent problem with our Ancestral Genealogy
is that it deals with our older ancestry.
I have seen many instances where someone born 1980-1990 wants to know where their father, born in 1940-1960 is. At this point in time, for them, they are using Ancestry.com, et als, as a posting board, not as an ancestral search.

MOCA Publication #11 shows John E. Stephens (Mar 11, 1859-Dec 1, 1939) and Corrie B. (April 12, 1859-Sep 8, 1926).
Both are buried in the Rumford Center Cemetery.
I found that on a disk entitled Maine Cemetery Inscriptions; Oxford County Maine (pg 1445), from Picton Press.

I called the cemetery office (St. John's in Rumford) and they were SO helpful. The phone number should be in an earlier post in this stream. The person in the office is Elaine. She even went to the cemetery and took a few pics for me as I am in PA. If you don't see the office number, I'll go back and look.
