Looking for info on John Cocherill Robinson & Elizabeth Harrison

Classification: Query
I am looking for information on both Elizabeth Harrison (who was born in New Hampshire, USA)and John Cocherill Robinson born 10 April 1808 in Ottringham, York, England. They are my 2nd Great Great Grandparents. Their children were all born in the USA, however they must have at some point after 1851 and before 1869 moved to Canada. My great grand mother, Emma Etta Robinson, was married in Canada in 1869. I believe Elizabeth and John had 5 children as follows:
Elisa (b 1838);
Reuben P (b 1841);
Helen Frances (b March 1844 m-Frank Moses d-28 Sept 1913 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada);
Martin B (b1845) and last
Emma Etta (My great grandmother, b-28 April 1851 in Bangor, Maine, USA, m-George Austin Moses 24 Dec 1869, d-10 Jan 1931 in East York, Ontario, Canada).

Any help would be greatly appreciated, ie: his parents names etc, marriage date etc, when he left England.
Thank you,

1861 Canadian Census
Whitchurch Township, York County, Canada West (later Ontario)

Robinson, John C., gardener, born England, Wesleyan Methodist, aged 52, married
Robinson, Elizabeth, born US, aged 51, married
Robinson, Eliza, born US, aged 23, single
Robinson, Elen, born US, aged 17, single
Robinson, Martin, born US, aged 15, single
Robinson, Ema, born US, aged 12
Robinson, Fanny, born US, aged 10

Fanny Robinson, aged 20, born United States, of Whitchurch, spinster, daughter of John & Elizabeth, married John Blair, aged 22, born US, of Newmarket, bachelor, laborer, son of Wm. & Jane; witnesses: Frank Moses of Toronto and Reuben Robinson of Newmarket; 18 March 1871 in Newmarket; Methodist.

In the 1861 census, there is a Reuben Robinson, born about 1800 in England, a shoemaker, also living in Whitchurch Township. By 1871, he is in Newmarket (which by the way was just the other side of Yonge Street so not a far move). Wonder what the connection is? Perhaps a brother to your John and the reason they settled in Whitchurch after moving from the US?

The Newmarket newspapers have been digitized and put online beginning in 1852; you may find some interesting tidbits there:

An interesting article about Martin which suggests he may have been born in England, or perhaps the article is incorrect:

Or perhaps it is a different branch of the family from the same area.

- there are other births for Robert Robinson for this area & in this timeframe which may be siblings of your John C. Eliza Ann Robinson married Henry Allen Owens:

I did not find a death register for John C.'s wife, Elizabeth

As stated by Eileen, Fanny R. Robinson married John Blair 18 Mar 1871.

Fanny "Rawlence" Robinson (sic) & John Blair had twin girls, Bertha Elizabeth & Charlotte Ann, born 17 Dec 1872 in Newmarket, York County, then a son, Frederick Harvey Blair b. 4 Apr 1875 in Napanee, Ontario. Fanny & John had twin boys Arthur & Herbert on June 27, 1880 in Clinton, Huron Co., Ontario. Charlotte Ann died 17 Apr 1874 in Newmarket.

John Blair died in Clinton, Huron Co., Ontario, on Mar 1, 1881 and Fannie was shown on the 1881 Census living with her twin sons & in-laws in Clinton. No other of her children were shown on this census.

Fanny then moved to NY State with her son, Herbert. Fanny's age showed as b. Mar 1860 in Maine but her son Herbert's birth date was exact on the 1900 US Census for Tonawanda, Erie, NY, so we know it is her.

Fannie, age 60, was on the 1920 US Census living in Tonawanda, Erie, NY, and she had a boarder named John Blevins, 46, living with her.

There is a marriage for Fanny "Rowland" Blair to John Blevins on 10 July 1926 for Bridgeburg, Welland County, Ontario. Again, Fanny's age is off & her parents were shown as John Robinson & Elizabeth "Holt". Her residence shows on this registeras being Newmarket, Ontario. So it looks like she moved back to York County, Ontario.

Fanny's son, Herbert John Blair, died 27 May 1964 in Amherst, Erie, NY, and is buried in the White Chapel Memorial Cemetery. He married Augusta and can be found on the Tonawanda, NY, census records.

Name: John C. Robinson
Spouse's Name: Elizabeth Hole

Name: Reuben P. Robinson
Spouse's Name: M. J. Harrison (i.e. Mary Jane)

Name: Reuben Robinson
Event Type: Death
Event Date: 18 Dec 1915

There is a marriage for Fanny "Rowland" Blair to John Blevins on 10 July 1926 for Bridgeburg, Welland County, Ontario. Again, Fanny's age is off & her parents were shown as John Robinson & Elizabeth Holt but could be Hole. Her residence shows on this register as being Newmarket, Ontario.

It may not hurt to post on the "York County" Ontario board asking if anyone has a transcript for the Newmarket Cemetery in York County. Only part listing of this cemetery is online. The following Robinsons are buried there, according to the Ontario Cemetery Finding Aid, but unfortunately the dates aren't shown:

Florence Isabella
John C.
Mercy Ann
Reuben Thadeus
Wm. B.

I did not find an Ontario marriage in 1869 for your Emma Etta Robinson, where did you find this? I was hoping to see what it said for her parent's names.
