Manfull

I know that my husband's ancestor, Ann Manfull, bc 1778, was the daughter of Stephen Manfull, who was a corn miller in Melbourne, Derbyshire. She later married William Peat of Melbourne. I presume the Stephen Manfull b 1781, would be her brother. However, I cannot find any trace of the family in Melbourne before that date, and am beginning to wonder if the name Manfull is a corruption of a similar name, such as Manville, Manfield or Manifold. Manifold is a name derived from a river that runs through Derbyshire & Staffordshire, and is quite common in Staffordshire. I would be interested in any theories, as we have a sampler worked by Ann Manfull when she was 14 years of age.

I am currently researching the MANFULL name for a history research group in Australia. I live in Chellaston Derbyshire where the MANFULLs had milling and farming industries in the 19th century. Stephen MANFULL of Calke was the father of Captain William MANFULL who settled in Chellaston following his military career. I would welcome any feedback regarding the MANFULL family.

I am curious about the milling and farming industies and I am trying to find out why there would be a street in Lenton named after the Manfull's. Any link here? Please let me know if you know of these people.

Hi there I'm a Manfull here in the US and I would love it if you could tell me the name of the street in Lenton with my family's surname on it and if you had a picture of it that would be even more awsome.

Ack!! I'm researching the Manfull's in Columbiana/Carroll County, Ohio and am also searching for a connection. If everything works out, some of the Manfull's in the original post (brothers to Ann) went to Columbiana/Carroll County, Ohio. I know all of these are old posts, I hope someone sees this and can help!

My direct line include MARTHA Manfull who is thought to be a sister to the boys/men in the same county. Some include a birth date for Martha that (so far) is questionable. Martha died before the 1850 census, so I have not yet found with certainty how everyone links Martha with the brothers from Derbyshire and sons of Stephen Manfull. (It doesn't mean there isn't a document that has not been found by me). It really does seem like she belongs in the same family, her birth date and her date of 'appearance' is correct to be a sister to them.

Ideas are appreciated!!
