...she was listed as a mother on the Granville Co Bastardy rolls in 1786.
The child could have been named Mary.

It was about that time that my ancestor John Phillips, long of Loudoun Co VA, married a Diannah and family histories now opine that it was this Diannah Hicks. John and family had moved to Rowan County, NC around 1785. In John's 1800 will a witness is a man named John Hick.

John Phillips died in 1801. His will mentions wife Diannah and their 4 kids Mary, James, Stephen and Elijah.

History is still a little sketchy. Samuel and Dianah Wills Hicks of Goochland Co, VA moved to Granville Co, NC in Oct 1764. Six children are known:
Agnes, married Jacob Woodall
Dianah, married Nathaniel Whitlow
Samuel Jr, married Frances Wyatt
Henry, married Betty Willis
Absalom, married Mary Harris
David, married Mary Johnson/Sarah Dennis (2 David's, can't distinguish)
Six others are often listed, but not referenced in any documents.
Of the six listed, Absalom and 1 David had a daughter named Dianah.

Hello gaframer and MUCH obliged. For many years many Phillips researchers
have been trying to verify that a Diannah Hicks was the 2nd or possibly the 3rd
wife of our John Phillips. Yours is the best info we have ever found and i believe
that with it we are closer to find more about the couple.
