my 4th grade Dutch and old eyes needs help with a few items in his marriage certficate (attached file)
1. He is in the militia 1st battallion ???5th division??
2. What is a Towelzer?? word just after Loeffe
3. What does it seem to say about his father's job and that he is in detention (jail) in Luijss?
4. His Mom is a that a nanny..child care provider?
5. Hendrina is a servant (dienst), what is the next word/

It is not just the fact that it is in Dutch, the handwriting is very difficult to read.

1) definitely in the military looks like 1st battalion, 5th division (afdeeling means section) born and lives here

2) can't make out the word, dont know enough about the military to try to guess.

3) definitely in jail does not say where

"buiten? (outside) beroep (occupation)

thans (because) in detentie te zijn

4) Mom is a naaister - sewstress makes, mends clothes

5) dienstbaar means of little importance, I dont think she works at all, not even as a maid even.

The line after Johannes' last name, "Loeffe" says: "Fusilier bij het eerste Battalion der vijfde afdeeling Nationale Militie" or, "fusilier with the first Battalion the fifth division National Militia".

The word fusilier was a French word meaning "musket". So, in other words, he was an infantry man equipped with a musket.

Dienstbaar means, in more certain terms, "available". So, Luke is correct when he states she is out of work but the intent is that she is available to work.
