The records show I left Cobh, Ireland on the Britannic to arrive Boston on 20 Nov 1938. Hovever the Britannic was sunk in 1916. The records also show that the Scythia left Cobh on the same day and landed in Boston on the same day as the Scythia. But I can not find a passenger list for that trip. The passengers I am looking for are Alwyn, Ethel, Joan, James, John. Any suggestions would be appreciated

What do you mean "the records show?" Whose records? Records of what?

There were three ships named Britannic. The last of them was in service for the White star Line from 1930-1960. This ship arrived in Boston on November 20, 1938. What is the issue?

The Scythia departed Liverpool, Greenock and Belfast on October 28-29 and arrived in Boston on November 6, 1938.

It would appear from the passenger manifest that all of your people embarked on the Laconia on October 8th in Liverpool and disembarked in Cobh.

They then reboarded the Britannic on November 13th for the journey to Boston. I don't know where you looked for a passenger list, but it is readily available from the usual suspects, NARA, FHC and

This was not the family's original immigration as they had been in the US since 1930, and the twins, John Albert and James Alwyn were born in Boston on 20 May, 1934. They were returning home to their residence on Savin St. in Dedham, MA, having left the US on September 5, 1938.

This is truly astounding. I got a 14 day trial in the U.S., found my father on this list. I also found my mother and her father as well as two couples whose names I remember from childhood in the 50's. This is the ship on which my father met my mother for the first time. I have heard the story many times, but never knew the ship name. My parents were married 4 years later. My father was returning from England with the 2 other members of his team after 2 years doing seismic mapping for oil exploration. My mother and grandfather were returning from a business trip.
