According to Goodspeed's biography of Joseph R. Taylor of Bradley, his parents were Larkin C. Taylor and Martha Read Taylor. The biography claims that Larkin fought in the War of 1812. But, according to the 1840 census in Bradley, Larkin was in the 30-39 age range (1801-1810) and indeed, his Findagrave memorial says he was born in 1802.

So would he have "led out a company" in the War of 1812 when he was 10 or 11 years old?

I would love to speak with descendants of Joseph Robert Taylor, bricklayer, of Cleveland who died in 1847.

I'm trying to determine if I'm related to this line. I have DNA tested at Ancestry, FTDNA, MyHeritage, 23andMe and Gedmatch.

Hi,

I'm not related but Larkin could have been Joseph's father and the military info about Larkin incorrect.

Larkin C. Taylor
Born: 1802, Burke Co. NC and died 1845, Bradley Co. TN
Married: Martha Read, b. 1808 McMinn Co. TN and d. 1898 Bradley Co. TN
Source: Edge Family 2018b, Ancestry

There is an attachment to this family tree which details Joseph's Civil War service and some of his life.

I'd look for Larkin and Martha's probate records to see if a son Joseph is named there. I'd contact the Bradley County Archives, https://bradleycountytn.gov/archives.html.

The Cleveland Public Library, http://tngenweb.org/bradley/library.html might also have these records. Successful Searching!
