I am looking for anyone who comes from the Thigpen line from Kinston, NC. My Grandfather is Marvin Thigpen and he has four children that I know of. Judy, Marvin Jr., Rory (my father), and Ned. I know all of the children But I am looking to learn more about the Thigpen family. Thanks.

Joy, saw your message about Marvin Thigpen. I used to live two doors down from Marvin and his children, Judy, etc. I mostly remember what a beautiful girl Judy was. I may be able to help you some with a book I have. I will research it to see if Marvin appears in it and get back to you.

Thank you

Thank you. I would really appreacciate that. Do you remember my dad Rory? We live in Delco now and He is a preacher. I really would like to learn about my family back ground and Grandaddy Thigpen (Marvin) doesn't remeber much. Thanks. Joy.

Joy: I don't remember too much about the children but my son is coming home from Utah for a visit in June and he was about the age of Judy and your father. He played with the children some. I will ask him while he is here if he remembers them. What was your grandmother's name? There is a Marvin Clarence Thigpen in the Thigpen Tribe book. If this could be your grandfather, I will research it further for you. Doris

Joy: I have been searching in the Thigpen Tribe book and the only Marvin that I think could possibly be your grandfather was born in Mt. Olive on 12/10/38. This person's name was John Marvin Thigpen. It does not say who he married. His father was Marvin Clarence Thigpen and his mother was Lucille Flowers. Don't know if this will help but if you think it was him, I can send you the parents of Marvin Clarence, etc. Doris

I just saw this posting, 12 years after it was posted, but I'm interested because Marvin Clarence Thigpen was my great uncle. His son was John Marvin Thigpen, and Johnny (as eveyone knew him) married Anne Wilson, also of Mt. Olive. They had only one child, a son named Jeff. Johnny and Anne divorced and Jeff became mentally disabled after suffering major seizures. He never married. Johnny was killed in a plane crash in 1969. Anne died in a car wreck but I don't know the date. Lucille Flowers was my grandfather's sister. Both her and Uncle Marvin were so dear to me - just like grandparents.

Hello, This is many many years later......... I talked to my mom a few days ago. Can you share your info if you see this? I found that John Marvin Thigpen and Ann Corrine Wilson divorced in 1968 which is about a year after their son was born. I have some photos of Jeff. The info my mother gave me (who was her cousin) was that Ann flew to Gaithersburg Airpark with her boy friend though she did not recall his name and that she died in a plane crash. She had told me that she visited with her at the airpark before they left that day. I would love to get the info correct in my family tree and be able to attach the articles.
