Hello,
Does anyone have any information on an A. Haislip who was a private in the 43rd battalion of Virginia Cavalry during the civil war? He was possibly from Fairfax County - perhaps Lorton, Fairfax Station, Fairfax Court House, Burke or Pope's Head Road area. He was wounded in action in 1864, but other than that I have no info? I am not a descendant, but I am doing research on Mosby's Rangers, of which he was one. I would very much appreciate any info and would be happy to share information I uncover in my research. I do have some info on a Louise Haislip Davis (1897-1962) and a Henry Haislip (1830)

Would appreciate any information you have on a Henry Haislip(Haizlip) born approx. 1820-1030. He lived in Rockingham County, N.C. according to the 1880 census. His son, A. Jack Haizlip (Haislip) was my great grandfather. Could this be the A. Haislip you're looking for? My e-mail is maryball@inna.net Thanks, Mary

Hello Mary Haislip Ball,
My g,g grandfather, James Samuel (Jim) Haislip was born c1787 in North Carolina. He married Elizabeth (Betsy) Ledbetter. Henry Haislip and Zach Haislip were among their eight children.
My records show Henry Haislip being born c1840 in TN. Seems a good bet this "Henry" and your "Henry" are the same person. He might well have named a son "Zach" after his own brother.
Good luck,
Al Haislip

Richard Haislip (d.1722) is the earliest American Haislip mentioned in Ezra Harold Haislip's "Haislip Book." Richard had three sons, Richard, Robert and Henry.
Henry Haislip's will (same Henry?) (p.79 - dated 1830, Fairfax Co, VA) leaves the bulk of his estate to his wife, Sally, and "all of my (minor) children," of whom five are named: Fanny, Iane, Ann, Jackson, and Silas.
Among the early Haislips, there were several Henrys, one of them being the son of Robert.
The early Haislips seem to have largely lived in and about Fairfax Co., VA, in the vicinity of George Washington's home, Mt. Vernon, and across the Potomac River, in and around Port Tobacco, Charles Co., MD.
Laban Haislip is my own earliest "for sure" ancestor. He served in the Revolution under Col. William Washington. Although I've not been able to establish his parentage or the names of any siblings, it seems a good bet that he would have been Richard Haislip's grandson. If anyone has information, I'd much appreciate hearing from him.

The Henry Haislip referenced by Al Haislip did NOT have a son named William. As Al said, he and his wife Silent (Sudduth) Haislip did have children named Fanny, Jane, Ann, Andrew Jackson, and Silas. Andrew Jackson Haislip (1821-1883) and his wife Agnes B. (Violett) Haislip (1829-1875) did have a son named William Walter Haislip (1853-1919). Good Luck.
