I'm looking for the Gallops who were in Kingston, PA during the 1780's thru 1820's. I'm specifically interested in William (married Judith Reed). They had several children, but I'm looking for their sons. One named William, Jr. and one named Hallet. Hallet married a lady named Freelove, but not sure who William married. Does anybody have any information on this line?

Charles Harris (1716-1778) was one of the First Forty, and came out in 1769 with the Susquehanna Company. He came from Plainfield, CT. His maternal grandmother was Christabel Gallup, who married Peter Crary. Christabel's father was Captain John Gallup (1615-1675), son of John Gallop (1590-1650), who came over. There is a clustering of Gallup/Gallops emigrating, then moving to Stonington, CT. They profitted by their relation to Gov. Winthrop and got lands in PLainfield, CT as well. I don't know about them in Kingston, as I am descended from their cousin, Peter Harris. Check the Luzerne County Historical and Geological Society in Wilkes-Barre. They have excellent files.

Jeff, I don't know if you will get his emial as the post os 10 years old. My mother is a Harris and I am directly related to Peter Harris. About 8 years ago I did some research and found the old Harris cemetery. I found Peter's tombstone buried unter 6 inches of leaves along the Susquenhanna river in Exeter Township, PA. My e-mail is brent.wucher@us.army.mil. I'm in Afghanistan right now but live in Binghamton, NY.
