There are many websites for passenger records. Ancestry has one of the largest but there are others.

Are you interested in Longford or Clare, as this is the Clare message board. Griffith Valuation
The only Lernan's in 1855 were in Clare, all 16 that were in Ireland. Parish of Kilmihil. I understand there are birth
records for the parish. Names are Michael, Jas, Thomas, Patrick and a Daniel.

Longford Civil Records:

Lilly Madeline born Jan-March 1889 Vol.3Pg. 181 #4193976

Christipher Anderton Learnan July-Sept 1885 Vol.3 Pg. 178

I would think Lilly might marry about 1910 or so but found no record in Longford.

The only thing close is a Lena McLernon married April-June 1917 Belfast?

No Lernan's in either Longford or Clare telephone books.

1901 Census:

No Lily or Agnes Lernan but an Agnes McLernan?

1901 63 Hopetown, Court Ward, Antrim

James McLernon 46, Painter, born Co. Down
Agnes McLernon 46 born Co. Down
Agnes Florence McLernon 22, born England, linen weaver
Lilian 20 born England (Lily named after aunt?)linen weaver
Elizabeth 17 born England,linen weaver
Samuel 8 born City of Belfast
Selina 12 City of Belfast, clerkers
Harry 5 born City of Belfast
George 18 born City of Belfast, Carpenter

They seemed to have left Antrim and possibly Ireland as I couldn't find them in the 1911 census.

Thankyou for the info. The family were in CREEGH,CLARE census 1901 1nd 1911.Surname spelt LERHINAN.Lily was not in 1911 census.
The children were born in Co Clare,Co Longford,Co Galway and Kings county.
Lily must have come to Australia before 1912 as She and her sister Agnes were here then.I cannot find an entry of arrival here.Agnes came out in 1912 from Liverpool but no Lily.
The Lily Madeline you have is the correct one.Her father was William LERHINAN.

England? Ships leaving Liverpool would pick up passengers
along the coast of Ireland before heading to Australia or the Americas.

I tried a list called for their
Australian collection. Neither spelling was found, it has its own search. However, records keep being added to this website as it is an ongoing project. So if you check back every once in awhile it might eventually be available.

I think it will turn up eventually as more records are

The name change could likely be the sounds of the name and an official in either Ireland or Australia writing what he heard or just to shorten it. That happened a lot.
The only information I could find was her civil birth
Jan-March Longford, Ireland 1889

1916 Electoral Rolls
West Australia Kalgoorlie

Lily Madeline Lernan, Star & Garter Hotel, Hanson St.Barmaid

M.Lernan Oct 1921 Fremantle to Melbourne

Mrs.__Lernan & Mr. N. Lernan April 26, 1914 Fremantle to
Adelaide British

Mrs. L. Lernan & Infant arrive Fremantle 3 Nov 1915 on the Vessel Katoomba

I looked at the original and it defintely says Mrs. but
she may have been making a new start in Australia

If this is your Lily where was she between the 1901 and 1915? Did she go to England first?
