Surnames: RYAN
John RYAN, b. 1822 in Croom, County Limerick, IRELAND, married Johanna SULLIVAN, b. 1828, also of Croom, in Roman Catholic Church in Croom in 1848. Their son Timothy RYAN was born on Feb. 22, 1849. Six weeks later, they emigrated to the USA, settling first in Strongs Landing [later renamed Berlin] where John worked for several years before homesteading in Marquette County, WI between Neshkoro and Montello, where his 6 children were born. John and Johanna are both buried in the St. James Catholic Church cemetery in Neshkoro, WI, as are several of their children. Interested in any and all information relating to this RYAN family from Marquette County. All responses appreciated.

A close match and I'm curious if you, in your research, may have learned anything about another Ryan family...Stephen and Catherine b, 1820, 1821, Ireland, immigrated to US in about 1847 and moved to Marquette County (from Quincy, MA) in about 1855. Children included John b. 1850, Ellen, Thomas, Martha, Michael, and Elizabeth.

I am also researching this line of the Ryan family, as James Ryan (b. 1844) was also a son of Stephen Ryan and Catherine Casey. He is listed, with the family, in the 1850 Quincy Census and the 1860 Briggsville, Marquette County census. I also have a death certificate for James Ryan that lists Stephen Ryan and Catherine Casey as his parents.

I am hoping you have new additional information since your original post. I am willing to share any information that I have as well.

Thanks, Ann
