Marsha, your information has been helpful. My grandmother, Elizabeth, was the daughter of John and Emma. She married Raymond McGrath and their son Arthur was my father.

My mother and father were divorced in the 50's so I have very little information about the McGrath/McGuire/Boyle lines.

Thanks
Terry McGrath

Sorry, we do not have any Doonans in our line, as far as we know. Mary O'Boyle / Boyle had several brothers and sisters, so anything is possible.

If you have more info on a possible connection, let us know and we will check it out.
Good Luck,
Marsha

Forgive me, I was thinking of a different Boyle line. Beleive it or not both my husband and I have BOyle anscestors (unrelated) - sure makes it confusing at times!

Emma Boyle may have Doonan relations - I will check and reply later. Did your Doonans live near NYC?

I am Tom Brown, grandson of John E. McGuire and g-grandson of John McGuire and Emma Boyle. Your father used to live in Bethel, Conn. where he met my cousin Jack McGuire. I've been communicating with Marsha and her mother for about six months. I would like to start communicating with you about family history. I will try to email you. I may not succeed because I had trouble reading you email address. Please notify me.

I am the great great grandaughter of Cornelius McGuire who married Bridget O'Brien. They had a son Michael who was born in 1869.

Is this the same family?

I think your Doonan could be a misinterpeted variation of the name Ronan. My GG Grandfather was a Patrick Ronan b. about 1836 in Ireland to Thomas and Elizabeth or Mary Elizabeth Gilhooly. Patrick came to NYC about 1849 and I have an 1850 US Census for him under the spelling Roonan living with the following persons; Patrick Cunningham, Margaret Cunningham, thir son John, another Jon Cunningham, Elizabeth Donnelly, Neal or Michl (Michael) Boyle; there is also a Mary Roonan age 30. This could be Patrick's mother but she would have been very young.
I found a Thomas Gilhooly, piano maker, living at 744 2nd Ave on a Naturalization Index from 1868 in NYC a PJ McCaffrey at 16 E. 58th St., was his Witness. Patrick and his wife Anna McCaffrey Ronan were already living at 221 E. 58th. I am certian these to have a connection to my family in some fashion.
If you see this and think we should compare notes, contact me here at Ancestry or at indigrl0608@aol.com; indicate Gilhooly.
