I am seeking info on the Tissot family originally of France then NYC
James and Louisa were born in th emis 1800's. Louisa's date of death is 4/29/1877. They had a daughter, Malvina in NYC. She married Wm. H. Simonson in Woodhaven, NY on Oct. 22, 1890.
I believe James may have had a brother or other relative, Emile who was born in Kansas 11/3/1859 and died 10/14/1885. ANY info on any of these people would be greatly appreciated.

Is it possible that any of the family migrated
to Ohio in the late 1800s? My maiden name was
Tissot, and I know that there was at least one
Emile in my family tree. The first couple in
Ohio was a lady named Catherine Rosselot and, I
think Emile Tissot, who were both originaly from
overseas... one of them from France and the other
from Switzerland.

Maybe it's the same person, but I'm not sure.
I can dig up an exact date if you're interested.

I have been told that the relatives from my side of the family shortened the legal name Tissot to Tiss. I was also told that we came over from Switzerland as well a few generations back. Maybe you can help with this.

I have a Catherine Haberstick born in France, Abt. 1835. She married Peter Rosselot in Allen county, Indiana on Jan. 13, 1858. They had a son Peter and a daughter Margaret E. We lost track of them after the 1860 census. Could this be the same Catherine that you mentioned? Thanks, Janet

I have information on a Peter John Rosselot born abt. 1874-1875 who married Mary Cecelia Federspiel on April 19, 1899 in New Haven, Allen Co. IN. I know of at least one child, Evelyn born abt. 1904-05 in MI. They appear in the 1920 MI Census. Peter lists being born in OH, father and mother born in Alsac Lorraine. I am a descendant of Emile and Catherine TIssot as well. Interested in learning if we are somehow related to the artist James Tissot (born Jacques Joseph Tissot in 1836). He may be a cousin of Emile's. Emile's father, Phillipe, was from Tavannes, Switzerland and James' father, Marcel Theodore Tissot b.1807 was from Trevilles, Switzerland. Both cities are very near each other.

I am seeking info on FELIX TISSOT & noticed this reply from Alaska from someone by that name. I have a group of hand made ceramic dinnerware made in TAXCO MEXICO signed by Felix Tissot. The party I bought them from said her father bought them in Taxco in 1950's or 60's. I have been unable to find any info about this ceramist or the company he must have owned or worked for. Thanks Sandy

I am interested in the Tissot family especially a Maria Tissot (Pissot) who settled on the Broad River (Newberry Co.,SC) 3 Jul 1749 with a servant & slave. She was a widow. I was told that the name was pronounced Prysock and may have been the beginning of that family in the US. The Prisock family wer in SC, AL, & AR. There was also a John James Tissot minister that was in SC. I am wondering if he was her husband. Have you got anything onthis family. The Prysock family were German in origin but it has been passed down that they knew about five lanuages. My new email address is: or
